Furtwangen University

Profile

Furtwangen University (HFU) is a public University of Applied Sciences founded in 1850. Located in the Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg, HFU offers applied sciences education across five core fields: engineering, business, media, health, and computer science.

In the German national university ranking (CHE), HFU has consistently achieved excellent results, particularly for teaching quality. It is also among the most research-intensive Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany and maintains strong industry ties in one of the country's economically most dynamic regions.

As a distinctive feature, HFU is one of a select few German universities to have adapted its admission requirements to accept Canadian high school diploma holders directly into English-taught Bachelor's programs – without the detour via a Studienkolleg or equivalent preparatory course typically required at German institutions.

Like most Universities of Applied Sciences, HFU's academic offerings focus on engineering and business. With all programs closely aligned to labor market needs, they ensure a high level of employability and excellent career prospects.
